Homework can be such a tricky thing. How much should you assign? What types of activities are appropriate? How can you get parents involved without having them do the assignment for their children? I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that a lot of homework is appropriate for children, especially young students. However, it IS really important for students to practice reading, writing and math as much as possible at home. I have always found that many parents simply don’t know how or what to reinforce at home, and we as teachers are often quick to say, “Read for 15 minutes and practice your math facts,” when assigning homework.
This homework notebook was created to solve some of the common homework problems. It will:
•provide engaging, interactive and FUN activities that will reinforce essential curriculum-related skills
•support parents with tips and ideas for helping their child (EVERY homework template includes instructions, learning goals and parental support ideas)
Most importantly, your students will look forward to these homework activities! {As I was creating and testing this resource my Grade 1 daughter (my “test-subject”) could not stop making these! I actually had to start putting limits on how many I would print out each day for her….not kidding! lol!}
This resource includes all the printables you need to get started with Interactive Homework Notebooks :
•Detailed teacher implementation instructions
•Parent letters, FAQ pages, and instructions
•More than 100 engaging, interactive templates in each grade level package
•Learning goals, instructions and ideas for parental support on EVERY homework template
.
The types of templates are limited to fewer than 6 different kinds. I don’t want parents to have to be origami experts to help their children with these activities, so the templates are simple, repetitive and laid out with explicit instructions.
.
Additionally, any of the 100+ templates in each package can be used by classroom teachers as a supplement to any interactive notebook!
.
Here are just a few more pictures of some of the activities that are included!
