					<description><![CDATA[As homeschool grandmother/retired teacher I knew the stress of timed tests and my grandson experienced it all. I switched to letting him take all the time he needed to complete. Taking out the 0s, 1s, &#038; 2s he knew well, I made a reproducible grid with the rest. I then challenged him to beat the last score. If his time was 12 min 37 sec, did he think he could do less next time (I praised even a few seconds improvement). And most times he did. CONs: Someone needs to sit, time it, cheer him on, note what needs more practice. Also, the grid is in order. After mastery, switch  to random placement.   PROs: Another chance to plot data on a line graph. He enjoyed seeing the line move down showing  improvement (intrinsic reward.  I never used extrinsic). PS He was able to get just below 4 min this year.]]></description>
